After going through so many states manually, I’ve decided that for me, there is no reason to consider voting as a write-in. Thus, the lack of interest in completing this endeavor. But, I did come across this link that lead me to this link where you can get information on all the state’s requirements for casting a write-in vote.

Pardon the Delay

My Mac has been in the shop for repair thus the lack of posts to the Write-in Ron Paul site. I went to add a couple more states tonight only to find out that WordPress has changed their editor and there may now be a limit to how long a page/post can be. The state rules page is a long one.

I’ll follow-up on it and post something when I get more info or if it gets fixed.

Charting the Write-in Campaign

Got a message from Kit who thought it would be a good idea for a chart that would show which states that Ron Paul has signed up for or show those states that he is eligible for being a write-in candidate. Since the rules are funny about the write-in candidate route, this might make it easy for those of us wanting to know if our vote will count or not.

Good idea. Management of this blog will come up with something. And if you know somebody at the campaign, ask them if Ron Paul will do the paperwork necessary to be a write-in candidate in the states that he is still eligible.

More states have been added to the State Rules page. Most of this information is online. It just takes time to find the information and do the cut and paste. I’m still amazed at how much work must be done to get a person eligible as a write-in candidate on a ballot.

Just how hard is it to write-in a candidate?

Only day one of this effort to document the requirements for write-in candidates in all 50 states and already I’ve come across two states (Alaska and Arizona) that require a candidate to file letters of intent or other documentation before their votes will be counted in the general election. And in the case of Arizona, if the candidate ran for the same office in the primary election, but did not get their party’s nomination, they can’t file as a write-in candidate for the same office.

Hmm, I already questioned the so-called democratic process in the primary season, but do we really need all these rules?
